WoW Upgrades - The
item Level upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an
item level upgrade by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.
The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variance (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and is accessible anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however they'll always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are functional items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons, tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an
item upgrades has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Upgraders for items are available at many locations including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items at the start of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via various methods that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading additional items to that same item level will cost less even in the event that they belong to another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear with a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an
item upgrading upgrader, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
Using these new currencies isn't too difficult, but the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the
Best item upgrade equipment you have and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially relevant for items like trinkets and rings that fill several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
