Sensors on the most advanced robot mops are designed to let them distinguish between different types of flooring. They can even recognize carpets and avoid washing them in cleaning solution. However they aren't 100% reliable. I have tested two mop models that were
robotic hoovers - the Ecovacs Deebot T30S and the Yeedi M12 Pro+ on carpets. Both robots started mopping at the edge of the carpet, leaving the entire surface wet. This is especially problematic if the area was coated in urine, coffee or brightly colored drinks.
Some of the more expensive models can handle multiple tasks, including vacuuming and scrubbing. Some models can be programmed to perform a series of tasks, such as mopping the dining area, and then vacuuming the playroom. It is not recommended to pour Pine-Sol into the tank of your robot's mop. This could cause damage to internal components. Instead, you should look for a company that produces floor cleaners specifically formulated for robots. These products will not void your warranty and are gentle on your floors.
