private adhd titration (

There is a nationwide shortage of medication to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing issues and the growing demand for ADHD medications worldwide.
Our service is able to offer
private adhd medication titration ADHD testing as an alternative to waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees cover the cost of a single prescription.
Titration
A highly skilled consultant psychiatrist will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your ADHD. This includes medical history and an assessment using the standard ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.
After your examination, you will be advised if medication is considered to be beneficial in your particular situation. This will happen during your follow-up appointment (which can be scheduled in person, via video link or via phone). Your clinician will explain the various options for medication and if you decide to start on medication we will recommend titrating the dose to optimise the balance of benefits and side effects for you.
This is a process which could take a few weeks, and involves adjusting your child's medication gradually until the appropriate balance is reached. It is not uncommon to to titrate up to three different medicines before you can find the one that is most suitable for your child's ADHD. It is essential for parents to be involved in this titration process, and keep an eye on their child's behavior to inform the doctor whether the medication is helping or causing side effects.
If you decide to go back to NHS treatment you will receive a private prescription for your medication. You will be required to pay the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation fee. You will need to attend six-monthly appointments to monitor your medications. This includes the measurement of pulse and blood pressure. Annual checks are also required.
Follow-up appointments
After the assessment is completed you will be able to book follow up appointments with the psychiatrist, as necessary. The appointment usually takes place through a video call using zoom however in some instances it may be possible to do an audio-only consultation (again at an additional cost).
We will then discuss treatment options and decide on a bespoke, individualised ADHD medication adjustment. This will include a review of your medication dosage and an examination of any adverse effects you may be experiencing. These titrations cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 by video or phone consultation. The pharmacy will be charged for any cost of medication.
The psychiatrist will ask you questions about your family history and the effects of your ADHD symptoms on your life and any mental health issues you may be experiencing. ADHD can be a hereditary condition, and it's vital to assess your family history in order to determine if you are at a greater chance of developing this condition.
It is important that you are honest and open with the clinician during the assessment, since the information they receive will be used to determine whether your ADHD meets the diagnostic criteria. This is a crucial step in the process, as failing to do so could result in an incorrect diagnosis and therefore inappropriate prescribing of medication.
If you've decided you would like to be treated for your ADHD We will set up a follow-up appointment with one of our psychiatrists that specialize in this area. This can be done in the wake of your diagnosis if want to start treatment immediately, or within two weeks if you would like more time to think about the implications of your diagnosis and the alternatives that are available to you.
We suggest that if are unsure about your preferences, you speak to your GP prior to scheduling your private appointment. Some providers have different policies on whether or not they require an GP letter. Find out if your GP accepts the Shared Care Agreement, which means that you will be referred to them once you leave the clinic for prescriptions for medication.
Medication
For many people who want an official diagnosis of ADHD, medication is an important element of their treatment. It isn't always easy to obtain an appointment with a psychiatrist on the NHS. NHS waiting lists can be extremely long and GPs may be reluctant to refer patients to specialist services.
One method to circumvent this is to request your GP to refer you through Right to Choose (see psychiatry-uk and ADHD 360). You can choose a service that provides a private assessment service and the
titration period adhd. This can cut down on wait time by a significant amount and is more convenient if you're working and have a busy schedule.
If you are referred, your clinician will evaluate your condition to determine if you require medication adjustment. You'll have to complete forms that differ by provider, but the most common ones are self-reporting questions and medical histories that go to your childhood and into adulthood. These forms will help your clinician determine if there are any factors that could mean that you shouldn't be taking ADHD medication, even when they've been prescribed.
If you are being titrated, the medication will consist of a mixture of stimulants and non-stimulant drugs. These will be carefully tested and monitored to find the best combination for you. The titration procedure can be long and may require multiple appointments before your dose is stable.
Based on the type of medication you're taking, follow-up appointments will be either monthly or quarterly. Your physician will make sure whether you are stable on the medication, note any side effects you have experienced and make any necessary adjustments to ensure that you remain on a dose that is safe. You are required to attend an annual review and a regular health check-up that includes pulse, blood pressure, and weight measurements.
Some people might be satisfied with their treatment and don't need to discuss their
titration for adhd process further. If you're looking to discuss your titration plan or treatment plan more thoroughly it is possible that you'll be referred back to the private doctor who made your initial assessment. If this occurs, the
titration adhd meds appointment will be part of their consultation fee, and they will receive their medication via an individual prescription (see Consultation fees above). This may cost more than a prescription from the NHS, as the pharmacy will charge you for the medication.
